Day 18:
Commit a Random Act of Utter Silliness.
Maybe not in the office, if you have a certain reputation to uphold.
But somewhere today, just do something for the sake of being silly. If you are having trouble being silly, grab a small child
(okay, not randomly. Ask
permission before you grab that kid – parents get very picky about that
kind of stuff!). It is so
easy to be silly with a kid. Can’t
find a handy kid? How about a
dog or a cat? Or an old
friend who you can let your hair down with.
Play hopscotch. Go
puddle-stomping. Buy some
Groucho glasses and step into a photo booth.
Do somersaults or cartwheels until you throw up.
No matter what you do, or whoever or whatever you choose to be
silly with, enjoy the moment.
We get way too hung up on ourselves.
We forget how to have fun. We
let the worries and cares of the day wear us down and weigh us down.
Sometimes we are so conscientious about keeping our nose to the grindstone
that we forget to look up at the sky.
Doing something silly and just plain fun creates a disconnect, an interruption in your daily pattern. Doing something silly creates a fresh perspective. It also reminds you that life is supposed to be fun. Allow yourself that luxury.
