Love Taps

Love Taps are meant to give you a gentle push to overcome inertia and get you started towards living your dream life.  This section is designed to help you form habits, set your goals, create a sound financial base and bring your dreams into your daily life.  All that in a measly 30 days!  Does it sound like a lot?  Don’t worry.  I have broken it down into Daily Love Taps for you.

Some of you are my age and probably already have a lot of this stuff together.  (Or not.)  You may have a daughter, daughter-in-law, or friend who could use these.  Do you know anyone who can use a Love Tap?  Someone who might be a bit overwhelmed?  Send them this link:  www.dontmakemeslapyou.com/lovetaps

Good intentions only take you so far.  It is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit.  And one chocolate cake to break it. (Okay -- the cake part is mine.) To help continue building on the foundation that Love Taps will build, we have weekly workouts and monthly missions to keep you on track.

My dream is to help you reach your dreams.  Let’s get started.

Week 1 –  Figuring Out Who You Are And What The Heck It Is You Want.

Day 1:       Take Off That Tiara, Princess.

We need to start right off the bat by getting rid of that princess/ diva/goddess mentality that has been pushed on us since the 1980s.  I don’t know about you, but no one has come riding up to me on a white steed and offered to whisk me away to a castle with a staff to wait on me.  How about you?  Exactly.  We are real women and you know without me telling you that real women work.  Hard.

So we have to start off by changing your mindset and facing the reality that you always knew was there:  You are going to have to work for what you want.  Yeah, it is nice to fantasize about a wealthy guy coming into the picture or hitting the lottery, but those are fantasies, not plans.  No one cares about your life more than you do.  So it is up to you to bring about change.

Part of the reason why your life isn’t all bon bons and tropical beaches is because most of us live normal lives.  We are not all rock stars. (And their lives aren’t all bon bons and tropical beaches, either.)  It doesn’t mean you have to live a boring life.  But you do have to face the reality of what your life is and stop pouting because you are not a rock star.  And once you come to grips with where you are, you can start your journey to where you want to be.

So take off the tiara, roll up your sleeves and get ready to start working on your new life.

Now that you are started, here are the rest of the love taps for the month.  Remember, take it one day at a time -- too much change all at once will overwhelm you and stop you.  So, take a gentle tap a day and feel the love.

Words of Wisdom

"Love is the extra effort we make in our dealings with those whom we do not like and once you understand that, you understand all."
--  Quentin Crisp, British author

"With love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls,
For stony limits cannot hold love out,
And what love can do, that dares love attempt."
-- William Shakespeare, British dramatist, poet.

"Self-trust is the first secret of success." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson   American author, philosopher

"We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do by finding out what will not do; and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery."
-- Samuel Smiles
